Tara Klaus, APN

Advanced Nurse Practitioner located in Geneva, IL

About Tara Klaus, APN

Tara is the Nurse Practitioner at Genesis Integrative Medicine. At Genesis, Tara performs orthopedic examinations, small and large joint injections, trigger point injections, allergy testing, and weight loss assistance. Tara is a board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), allowing her to care for individuals throughout the lifespan. Tara received her master’s degree and FNP education from Lewis University and became board certified in October 2018. She received additional injection technique education at Downtown’s Healthcare of Denver, a leader in ultrasound-guided large and small joint injections.

Prior to joining the team at Genesis, Tara was a nurse and lactation counselor in the Family Birthing Suites at Morris Hospital for eleven years. There, she gained experience caring for women throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, as well as newborns in the regular and special care nurseries. During that time, she met and married her husband Mike and had two beautiful sons, Dylan and Colton. After working nights at the hospital for seven years, Tara decided it was time for a change and decided it was time to go back to school to advance her degree.

Tara had always veered towards more natural lifestyle but assumed she would work in the traditional medical model as she had been taught. After having Colton, her husband Mike suffered a back injury that changed everything. He was in constant pain, restricted in his movements and unable to care for his then 3-year-old and newborn baby boys. He was told he would need spinal surgery, possibly a fusion to fix the problem and decrease his pain but the surgery did not hold any guarantees about prognosis. He was given powerful anti-inflammatories, albeit necessary, was not a long-term solution and we sent to PT. Six months later, after several weeks of PT, pain medications and anti-inflammatories, he was not getting better, and he was suffering. He then turned towards chiropractic and the myofascial release techniques of a close friend and he started making miraculous improvements. This opened Tara to the world of alternative medicine. In her studies, she learned the importance of traditional medicine and with her life experience, learned the importance of alternative medicine, and in Genesis Integrative Medicine, she got the best of both worlds. As the Nurse practitioner, and in collaboration with Dr Kempel and Dr Conroy, she is able to help people how she never has before. She gets to fulfill her goal of helping others, so they can live a happier, healthier life.
